We aim to provide our guests with the best possible experience. Below, we have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions to help you find your way to us.

General

1 Is breakfast offered at the hostel?

Our hostel does not provide breakfast, but you have access to our fully equipped communal kitchen, where you can conveniently prepare breakfast and other meals. Each room has its own refrigerator where you can easily store all your breakfast and other necessities during your stay.

For breakfast, the hostel offers coffee, tea, and oatmeal in the kitchen, which you can use free of charge.

2 Is the hostel accessible?

Unfortunately, our hostel is not accessible. The rooms are located on the 3rd floor and there is no elevator in the building.

3 Is there staff at the hostel?

The hostel is a contactless self-service hostel where the staff is not permanently present. The staff can be reached by phone 24/7. Detailed instructions for communication during your stay can be found in the guidelines received with your booking, as well as in the hostel room.

4 What if I need assistance during the night?

You can contact our staff by phone at any time of the day or night. Detailed instructions for making contact can be found in the instructions sent via email with your reservation and in the guide available in your room.

5 Can pets be brought into the hostel?

While we are fond of animals, our hostel does not allow pets. This policy is in place to mitigate allergy risks and to prevent noise and disruptions, ensuring a comfortable and safe stay for all our guests.

6 How can I make a reservation?

Making a reservation is easy through our website's booking system. Simply select Book Now from the top right corner of the website to directly access our reservation system.

7 Does the hostel have an elevator?

Our rooms are located on the third floor, and unfortunately, our hostel does not have an elevator.

Check-in and check-out

1 How does check-in work?

Our hostel is keyless and contactless. Customers are sent a door code and parking instructions via email one day before the start of the reservation, and also by text message on the arrival day when check-in begins at 3:00 PM.

2 Can I bring my luggage for storage before my room is available?

Yes, storing your luggage before check-in is possible, but it requires prior arrangements. Please ensure you contact us well in advance either by phone at +358 40 187 7131 or by email at hameenlinna@kulkurihostellit.fi.

3 What time is the room available, and when must it be vacated?

The room is available for the customer from 3:00 PM on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 12:00 PM on the day of departure.

4 Can I get to the hostel by public transport?

You can easily reach us by bus from Hämeenlinna's train and bus station. The nearest stop is located on Lahdensivuntie. Routes and timetables can be easily found in Hämeenlinna's route guide.

5 Can I arrive at the hostel late in the evening or at night?

Yes, you can arrive when it fits your schedule. Your personal door code is active from 3 PM on your day of arrival until 12 PM on your day of departure. Please note that the hostel maintains quiet hours from 10 PM to 6 AM if you arrive late.

6 Does the hostel have parking space?

Yep!

Rooms and other facilities

1 Will my room be shared with others?

No, all our rooms are private. The room you have booked is exclusively for your use and will not be shared with other guests.

2 How are the shower and toilet facilities arranged?

Our hostel's 14 private rooms are divided into clusters of 3-4 rooms each. Each cluster has its own shared shower and toilet facilities located immediately nearby the rooms.

As an exception, there is one double room and a three-person apartment, both of which have their own bathrooms.

3 Can pets be brought into the hostel?

While we are fond of animals, our hostel does not allow pets. This policy is in place to mitigate allergy risks and to prevent noise and disruptions, ensuring a comfortable and safe stay for all our guests.

4 Does the hostel have a sauna?

Yes, our hostel features separate sauna facilities for men and women on the first floor, accessible daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. As our hostel operates without permanent on-site staff, you have the convenience of heating the sauna at a time that suits you best. The use of the sauna is included in the room price.

5 What communal areas are available for use?

Kitchen

There is a communal kitchen where food preparation is convenient. Additionally, each cluster's hallway has a microwave, coffee and water kettles, and a refrigerator.

Living room

The living room is equipped with a dining set, a sofa, a TV, and a PlayStation 3. You'll also find board games, books, and other leisure activities in the cabinet.

Shower, Toilet Facilities, and Sauna

Each cluster consists of 3-4 rooms sharing a shower and toilet.

In the basement, you'll find separate saunas for women and men, available daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. As our hostel does not have permanent staff, you can heat the sauna whenever it suits you best, allowing you to enjoy the sauna at your own pace.

2 Does the hostel have a laundry room?

Yes, the hostel has a washing machine on the 1st floor which is freely available for use. Remember to bring your own laundry detergent.

3 Does the hostel have a sauna?

4 Where are the nearest grocery stores?

The hostel is located just a short walk, less than a kilometre, from the city centre, which boasts a wealth of shops, including Goodman Shopping Centre and K-Citymarket Hämeensaari.

You can also use Wolt to have your desired groceries delivered directly to the hostel door from K-Market Visamäki.

Cycling

1 Is there designated space for bicycle storage?

Yes, we are a cyclist-friendly hostel. On the ground floor, you'll find warm indoor spaces for storing your bike. The space also offers the possibility for minor self-service maintenance, and outside, you can wash your bike if needed.

2 Can bicycles be serviced at the hostel?

Yes, our hostel offers the possibility for minor do-it-yourself maintenance, and outside you can also wash your vehicle if necessary.

Our partner, Parolan Pyörähuolto, located about five kilometers away, can assist if your bike needs more extensive maintenance services.

From our bike park, you will find a "first aid kit" that allows you to get the bike moving until it can be serviced.

Reservations

1 How can I cancel my reservation?

To cancel a reservation made through our website's booking calendar, you can send an email to hauho@kulkurihostellit.fi, send a text message, or call us at +358 40 187 7131. Cancellation is free of charge if done at least 7 days before the start of your stay and before 3 PM.

For reservations made through Booking.com, we are unable to cancel or modify them. Cancellations must be managed according to Booking.com's guidelines and the specific reservation and cancellation conditions.

2 Where can I find the reservation and cancellation policy?

3 Can I book and/or pay for a room on the spot?

Reservations and payments can only be made using our electronic reservation system.

4 Where can I see available rooms and how do I make a reservation?

You can easily make a reservation through the booking calendar on our website. You will see a listing of available rooms once you have selected the number of guests and your desired dates of stay.
